The New York Fashion Week Spring is undoubtedly one of most awaited fashion events of the year and this we are getting to see some awe-inspiring designs on the runway. Let’s take a look at how Day 2 unfolded at the New York Fashion Week Spring 2016.  Already a few trends are emerging and we are getting to see a lot of halter necklines, sharp knife pleated skirts, and punchy coral separates.

Givenchy

The biggest debut at the fashion week so far has been of the French fashion house. Givenchy’s show was at Pier 26 at Hudson River Park just at sundown. With the setting being perfect, expectations were ripe and did Riccardo Tisci, Givenchy’s creative director, disappoint? Not by any means. At display were most black and white outfits, segmented into couture and ready-to-wear collections. The highlight of the event was the high-profile attendance – from Julia Roberts, Jennifer Hudson, Kim Kardashian, Kendal Jenner, and many more.

CushnieEt Ochs

The two partners of Cushnie Et Ochs, Carly Cushnie and Michelle Ochs stuck to their trademark cut-outs, but this time chose pastel shades of lavender, mint and soft peach to display their dresses. The duo also showcased slim-fitting silhouettes and sexy black leather one-pieces. Actresses Grace Gealey and Kaitlin Doubleday were spotted on the first row during CushnieEt Ochs show.

Kate Spade

There was a lot on display at the Kate Spade show. Lots of colors, kitsch, and shiny gloss seemed to make the runway come alive. The collection had springtime written all over it. We got to see the use of laces on dresses and skirts, which, by the way, looked very feminine as well. One of the models sashayed down wearing a black strapless midi dress that had sophistication written all over it. But the winner of the Kate Spade collection was definitely the whimsical accessories. We can’t get enough of the “Admit One” ticket clutch, the ice cream truck shaped clutch and the wicker Dalmatian-shaped bag.

Jason Wu

Jason Wu’s collection was marked by feminine flair, mid-century style and flounce. The designer showcased elegant shoulder capes, oversized dresses and flowing ruffled sleeves. The colors used on the garments were mostly subdued, with a lot of use of black, deep green, light grey etc. There was also a hot pink dress that was seen on Jason Wu’s runway collection, apart from a few other bright colors.
