Tourmaline is a crystal boron silicate mineral compounded with various other components such as iron, aluminium, sodium, lithium, magnesium, or potassium. It has a trigonal crystal system with six member ring cyclosilicate. It is different from other stones because of its three-sided prisms as no other common mineral has three sides. Tourmaline comes in the variety of colors. Usually, Tourmalines, which are rich in iron are black in color, while the varieties which are magnesium-rich are brown to yellow, and on the other hand the varieties which are rich in lithium are of red, blue, green, pink, and yellow. Multi-colored and bi-colored crystals of tourmaline are very common, and the transparent crystals are rare to find. There is one more variety of tourmaline, which is called as watermelon tourmaline as it is green on the outside and pink inside.
