African diamonds still speculated to be covered in blood. Regardless of the actions of the Kimberley Process, UN commenced to attest that rough diamonds inflowing the market are conflict-free diamonds, UN continues human rights abuses without technically breaching the conditions of the arrangement.

The Pope stated the illegal trading of diamonds in Africa increase the human selfishness and the maltreatment of the wretched, the reason is to fund armed conflict in situations of poverty will ultimately lead to impoverishment. Pope Francis apprised that illegal trading of diamonds and other precious resources give rise to criminal activities and sabotage the political stability. During a tour of the continent in Kenya on 26th November he says these actions are tearing the beautiful nation Africa into pieces. He enunciates to the assembly at the office of the United Nations in Nairobi that it’s the high time to raise our voice against illegal trafficking. He said that illicit trade of diamonds tears the Africa into pieces, he also explains that illegal trafficking that generally move up in situations of poverty will in turn contribute to greater impoverishment and exclusion. Further, to this subject Pope Francis affirmed that it is undermining the political stability. The head of Catholic Church also visits Uganda and the Central African Republic (CAR) a diamond-producing state whose rough gems have been banished from the Kimberley Process. Non-profit group Amnesty International put out a report in September claiming trafficking precious stones from the CAR still funded violence in the state.
