The UK hallmarking experienced 1% ‘edge up’ in 2015

In the year 2015, the UK hallmarking edges 1% upwards if considered the annual figures of the full year. The data gathered from the UK assay offices when compiled by the Birmingham Assay Office shows a hike a 1% compared to the previous year, though the hallmarked items fell by 1% during the month of December due to the flat Christmas sales.

2015 was a year that shows the UK hallmarking a rise of 1% in total even after facing the fell by 1% in the month of December. December month demonstrates a decline of 1% due to the flat Christmas sales. Data (the annual figures) collected from all the four assay offices in the UK, when compiled by the Birmingham Assay Office then shows the hike of 1%. The percentage was calculated on the basis of the total number of hallmarked items in the year 2015 than the previous year. The correct specification of the data collected in the year 2015 was that the figure of the hallmarked item shows 10,495,355 up from 10,395,236 the previous year. In spite of this, throughout the month of December, the quantity of articles fell from 935,521 to 926,207 and this drop was mostly down to gold that shows the overall decline of 3.2%. Platinum showcase a hike of 20.1% during the month; however silver relatively remain flat with a 0.4% hike on the previous year. Further, the number of hallmark palladium items fell 5.5%. In the year 2015, gold and platinum show a hike of 2.4% and 9.4% respectively, whilst the articles of silver and palladium displays a drop of 0.8% and 6.7% respectively.
