School of Jewelry, Birmingham City University has declared the shifting of its gemology department in the new building of the AOB that is situated on Moreton Street. The switch will facilitate development of gemological training for BCU students as well as play a part in ambitious plans to establish a core of learning brilliance for the Midlands jewelry trade. The relocation that would be finished by the close of the year 2016 will open up the facilities for full and part time 90 gemology students from Birmingham City University. It will help the students to access to equipment available at Assay Office Birmingham’s AnchorCert Gem Laboratory to test diamonds. The decision of the school too increases the opportunity for gemological research, as they include the knowledge and expertise of subject specialist staff. Gaynor Andrews, Head of the school of jewelry likewise explains that this partnership would allow the students to access the resources they otherwise wouldn’t have had. Andrews too adds that placing an educational source within a work setting will also inspire AOB employees to undertake continual professional development, hence supporting an upskilling of the existing workforce. In addition, Stella Layton a CEO and assay master too adds the school enjoys a high reputation both in the UK and internationally.
