Sotheby crosses the bar of $500M at its Jewelry auction
Sotheby at its 2015 jewelry auction hits the sale of $562M, the collection was from the 11 auctions held in the last year. The whole collection falls short of a target of $602.5 million revenue record of the year 2014. Auctioneer too stated that the sales could not be compared due to the dubious aggregates of 2014.
Sotheby’s in the year 2015 at its total 11 jewelry auctions sold the jewelry of $561.7M missing the record of $602.5M of the former year. Auctioneer too stated that the year 2015 sale could not be compared with that of the previous year, as 2014’s aggregates are not exact. The auction house, Sotheby becomes successful in selling $300.5M of jewelry at two Magnificent Jewels and Noble Jewels at a public sale held in Geneva. Further, the auction that held in the month of May makes $161.7M and that held in November makes revenue total of $138.8, where Sotheby auctioned off the prestigious Blue Moon diamond for $48.5M. The revenue generated from a New York auction was $135.7M that comprises of the $65.1M sale at the Magnificent Jewels auction held in April along with the $18.4M sale at Important Jewels auctions held in September. Further, this auction too includes the sale of $52.2M at another Magnificent Jewels event held in the month of December. Sotheby’s too earns $105.4M through its three jewelry auctions held in Hong Kong, inclusive of $37.4M at the Magnificent Jewels and the Jadeite auction held in April along with $62.7M at the event took in October and $5.4M in December. London sales came to $20.1M from three Fine Jewels auctions; $5.2M in March, $7.6M in June and $7.3M in December.
