The Birmingham Skills Show would witness the young talents representing jewelry making

The very talented new age goldsmiths began their journey at Goldsmith’s Centre Clerkenwell with an aim of representing UK at the World Skills Show in Abu Dhabi in 2017. Now 8 young goldsmiths have been shortlisted.

8 trainees aged between 17-20 years have been shortlisted for competing in terms of their skills for making jewelry at the Birmingham Skills Show. The competitors who’re eligible will begin their journey at the World Show which will be happening at the NEC in Birmingham.

8 trainees have been shortlisted who will be competing against each other for making fins jewelry at the Birmingham Skills Show.

The show is in its 44th season wherein it will inspire vocational trainings and skill development, introducing young talents to different skillful careers right from hairdressing to plumbing.

After being selected successfully, the shortlisted trainees would be entering a training program for preparing to compete at the international competitions.

The final entrants chosen for fine-jewelry making categories include: Sharon Alvarez from E C One, Abigail Buckingham from A R Buckingham, Ben Kerridge from Dominic Walmsey, Alessandro Errara, Eleanor Woolacott from C A Treble, Chloe Lightfoot from E Wolf & Co., Gabi Gucci from Birmingham School of Jewelry and Alexander Wood from Ian Read.

Steve Jinks, the International Training manager has been training the trainees for the skilled and pressure precision which is needed at the Skills Show.

Throughout the competition, the trainees will be asked to craft fine pieces of jewelry of set dimensions within a specific period of time and will be judged on the basis of their accuracy. The project basically aims at testing the basic skills of the trainees in terms of saw techniques, interpretation, filing, soldering and their ability of completing the projects as per the standard of the industry.
